Alresford,
(pronounced Allsford) is a beautiful Georgian town. Mentioned in the Domesday
Book, Alresford was for many centuries a prosperous wool town.
The colour-washed Georgian houses you see today rose from the ashes of great fires in the 17th century. Visit the many specialist shops selling antiques, gifts, clothes for all ages, antiquarian books, pictures, china, crafts and food for the connoisseur. With pubs, hotels, restaurants and tea rooms, your every need will be satisfied. |

The Parish ChurchThe Church has Norman foundations, with a 17th century tower. This Grade 2 listed building was rebuilt after the last great fire and again in the Victorian times. The French soldiers' graves date back to the Napoleonic Wars. |
Old Alresford PondFormed in the 12th century as part of a project to dam the Arle stream. Today it is home to wildfowl and otters. |

Fulling Mill and Riverside WalkStraddling the River Arle is the thatched timber-framed Fulling Mill. The riverside walk is a delight , but can be muddy in wet weather. |

Alresford boasts the traditional
shops of a small market town, including butchers, fishmongers and bakeries.
It is also well-known for a range of stylish shops offering designer fashions,
art and craft, antiques and clocks as well as china and antiquarian books. You
will find plenty of Long Stay parking at the station.
Walking
and Cycling
Alresford is close to the Itchen Way, Wayfarer's Walk and Pilgrim's Way and
there are many circular routes in the area including Abbotstone Down and the
